Function Categories and their Status

The Roles Database groups business functions and authorizations into Function Categories, which usually correspond to applications at MIT, such as SAP, NIMBUS, Graduate Admissions, etc.. Authorizations in a Function Category may apply to more than one application; for example, financial reporting authorizations in the SAP category apply both to SAP R3 and the Data Warehouse.

Each Function Category is represented by a 4-character abbreviation. As the number of applications that use the Roles Database keeps increasing, the number of Function Categories also increases.

As of today (last updated April 8, 2008), here are the Function Categories and the production/test status of the corresponding authorizations in the Roles DB. Click on a category to see a list of its Functions.
